Film „Loss“ returned from Shanghai with
two prestige awards
We have a great honour to announce
that "Loss",a drama set in Ireland and Lithuania, team has just returned from the 11th Shanghai
International Film Festival which took place 14-22 June 2008 with two Golden
Goblets ("Jin Jue" award) - one for Maris Martinsons as the Best Director and
the second for Andrius Mamontovas for the Best Music. “Loss” is the first
Lithuanian feature film ever that received an award from A class festival.
Following these awards the head of
Jury – the acclaimed director Wong Kar-Wai personally expressed his fascination
about the marvellous work of cameraman Gints Berzins.
The Shanghai International Film
Festival, abbreviated SIFF, is one of the largest film festivals in the World.
It has recently begun to gain an international reputation, after it was listed
as one of the "A" Festivals by FIAPF. It awards several "Golden Cup" Awards
("Jin Jue") for best film, best director, best actor/actress, and other
categories, as well as a "Special Jury Award." More than 300 Chinese and
foreign movies have been screened at the festival this year. “Loss” was
selected from more than 1000 other movies sent to the festival.
„Loss“ is a dramatic story developing
in two countries, connected with each other by vast migration after the fall of
Soviet Union, and six people whose destiny is bond in more than one way after
tragic accident which happened more than two decades ago. Official film website
